The programme demonstrates the multiple complex issues that need to be considered when reflecting on such a vast, contentious and multifaceted reality of how to be a responsible citizen in an ever more fragile and complexly interconnected human environment. You will be able to explain how political, economic, social, educational, legal, scientific, artistic and technical ӬanguagesԠand approaches are necessary for a correct analysis of the complex systemic reality that we live in, as well as to promote the necessary ingenuity and wisdom that it demands for integral flourishing. The programme will teach you how to analyse the issues systemically and demonstrate an ability to present them coherently through deliberation by bringing different ӬanguagesԠand disciplines together. The nature of the programme clearly draws on several core transferable skills like critical reading and reflection, narrative approaches, and the ability to reason ethically as well as creatively.

The programme will demonstrate and describe the multiple complex issues that need to be considered when reflecting on such a vast, contentious and multifaceted reality of how to be a responsible citizen in an ever more fragile and completely interconnected human environment.

You will be able to explain, not only different ethical theories and the philosophy of human action, decision making and technique, but also how political, economic, social, educational, legal, scientific, artistic and technical "languages" and approaches are necessary for a correct analysis of the complex systemic reality that we live in, as well as to promote the necessary ingenuity and wisdom that it demands for integral flourishing. You will compare and analyse literature on environmental issues inspired by different cultures, different traditions, different religions, as well as various academic disciplines, to enrich a complex systemic dialogue.

The programme will teach you how to analyse the issues systematically and demonstrate an ability to present them coherently through deliberation by bringing different "Languages" and disciplines together. This will not only widen your breadth of knowledge, but also your ability to compare multiple viewpoints at the same time. The core ability that you will be trained in is a "systemic sensibility" for "ecologic prudence" and reasonable deliberation. "Prudence" is the practical reasoning necessary to consider not only possible solutions to emergent problems, but to demonstrate the ability evaluate the most fitting solutions to minimise negative impact yet enhance the flourishing of the complex system as a whole.

"Ecologic prudence" demonstrates this reasoning ability when applied not just the natural, physical and biological ecology, but the environment as a whole. "Deliberation" empahsies our role as citizens who are actively involved in creating the world of today and tomorrow. The nature of the programme clearly draws on several core transferable skills like critical reading and reflection, systemic analysis and presentation of issues, the ability to discern differences and similarities in various academic "languages" and narrative approaches, and the ability to reason ethically as well as creatively.

The process of reflection will lead you to enhance your exposure and know-how to thrive in a complex new world, where citizens are increasingly being asked to be innovative, gain new skills, and be fluent in multiple "literacies". The programme would also enhance your sense of responsible global citizenship in a world that has shrunken to the size of a "village", but that often also suffers from its less than collaborative or amicable ways. This course aims to change the mind-set and attitudes towards the environment and civil society.
